In 2009 too, a jury, as always made up of well-known individuals, will recognize the best work with awards and make their decisions known to the audience and general public at the awards ceremony.


The Feature Film Jury

  • Jovan Arsenic (Director, Author, Producer) - celebrated the premiere of his film “Helden aus der Nachbarschaft” at the Berlinale in 2008
  • Matthias Glasner (Director, Author, Producer) - with his mainline film, “Der freie Wille”(Free Will), he made it into competition at the Berlinale, and his lead actor, Jürgen Vogel, won the Silver Bear for his artistic achievement, in addition, Matthias Glasner was nominated for the German Film Prize in the category of best director
  • Jana Marsik (Cinematographer) - received the 2002 German Camera Prize and enjoyed great success with the film “Robert Zimmermann wundert sich über die Liebe” (Robert Zimmermann is amazed by love)
  • Oli Weiss (Editor) - nominated, together with Peter Przygodda and Mirko Scheel, for the 2009 German Film Prize for their editing of Wim Wenders’ "Don't come knocking", editor of "Palermo Shooting" (2009)

The Documentary Film Jury

  • Niko Apel (Director) - won the prize for the Best Documentary Film at the last sehsüchte festival with his film “Sonbol”, which he has also had nominated for this year’s Grimme-Preis
  • Cora Isabell Brückmann (arte/rbb) - Line producer at the arte Short Film Magazin "KurzSchluss"
  • Lutz Reitemeier (Cinematographer) - shot “Die Spielwütigen” (The desperate Players, 2004) and “Tuyas Hochzeit” (Tuya’s Wedding, 2007), the winner of the Goden Bear at the 58th Berlin Film Festival
  • Gunther Scholz (Director, Author, Producer) - his documentary film “Sag mir, wo die Schönen sind” (Tell me where the Beautiful People are) celebrated its premiere at the 2008 Berlinale

The Animated Film Jury

  • Izabela Plucinska (Director) - won the Silver Bear at the Berlinale in the best shortfilm category with her animated shortfilm “Jam Session”
  • Michael Rüger (Producer & Creator for Cross Plattforms)
  • Fursy Teyssier (Winner at sehsüchte 2009) - "Tir Nan Og - Amour Toujours"
  • Christoffer Wolters (3D-animator) - 3D-animator with Nordpol – Agentur für Kommunikation

The Music Video Prize Jury

  • Zoran Bihac (music video and advertising director) - worked with the Fantastischen Vier, with Rammstein, the Beatsteaks, Freundeskreis and Tokio Hotel
  • Conrad Fritzsch (managing director of the Online-Music-Channel’s tape.tv)
  • Ingo Georgi (Producer & Founder of KATAPULT) - produced music videos with Rosenstolz, Herbert Grönemeyer, Tokio Hotel, Fettes Brot and Rammstein

Jury Focus Dialogue Award

  • Manicam Narayanan - Cinematographer , Producer, Founder of the indian TV-Channel "Seventh Channel Communication"
  • Dr. Gloriana Selvanathan - Writer and filmmaker from Sri Lanka, lives in Berlin
  • Manzar Sehbai - Actor and theatre scientist, Vice-chairman at the Asian Pacific Filmfestival, lives in Berlin

Jury Producer’s Award

  • Mathias Lösel (Rat Pack Film) - Producer of "Erkan & Stefan - Der Tod kommt krass" and "Das Wunder von Loch Ness 2"
  • Janine Jackowski (Komplizen Film) - Silver Bear at the 59. International Filmfestival Berlin 2009 with "Alle Anderen", nominated for the German Film Awards 2005 with "Der Wald vor lauter Bäumen"
  • Roman Paul (Razor Film) - Winner of the Golden Globe as German Co-Producer for "Waltz With Bashir"
  • Niels Laupert - Winner of the sehsüchte Producer's Award 2008 for "Sieben Tage Sonntag" (Producer and Director)

Jury Screenplay Award

  • Bora Dagtekin - Scriptwriter, "Wo ist Fred?" and "Tuerkisch für Anfaener" (German Adolf Grimme Award)
  • Andreas Leusink - Executive of the publishing house "Henschel Schauspiel"
  • Jeanette Würl - Editor, "Auf der anderen Seite" and "Chiko"

Jury Prize against Discrimination

  • Rainer Benz - cultural programme of the Federal Commissioner for Matters relating to Disabled Persons
