Niko Apel - Director, winner previous year


Biography

      Niko Apel was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1978. From 2002-2007, he studied directing at the film Academy in Baden-Württemberg. With his completion piece, "Sonbol" (2007), he created a wonderful portrait of an Iranian woman, Sobol Fatemi, who likes car rallies among other things. He gained three distinctions for this documentary film, first at sehsüchte, a little later the First Step Award 2008 and finally the Adolf-Grimme-Preis 2009. He is currently directing a film for "Das kleine Fernsehspiel".

Cora Isabell Brückmann - Journalist, Editor of arte/rbb short film


Biography

      Cora Isabell Brückmann was born in 1965 in Kiel. Training in bookselling, publisher's reader, German studies, history and film studies in Hannover, Hamburg and Berlin, director's assistant with Dieter Wedel, press work, text and programme editing in film branch (among other, Kinowelt, Boje/Buck) and for cultural institutions like DHM, EFA und AdK. Since 2001, editor at ARTE/RBB ("Starke Herzen"); editing, acquisition and production of short films ("Louis Elefantenherz").

 

 

 

Lutz Reitemeier - Cinematographer


Biography

      Lutz Reitemeier was born in 1963 in Stuttgart. He learned his craft as an assistant to various experienced camera operators. A few years later, he shifted into independent camera work. Since then, he has shot a wide variety of projects, among them Andres Veiel's long-term documentation "Die Spielwütigen" and Wang Quan'an's feature film "Tuyas Hochzeit", which won the Golden Bear at the Berlinale in 2007. His most recent film projects have taken him to China again.

Gunther Scholz - Director


Biography

      Gunther Scholz was born in Görlitz. He began his directing career with study in Babelsberg. Work as an assistant and as director followed at the DEFA studios. Since 1991, he has been working as a freelance author and director and has become well-known through numerous productions in the areas of fiction and, above all, of documentary. For the ARD documentary "Als die Mauer fiel" he won the Bavarain film Prize in 2000 and the German Television Prize for "Es geschah beim Schützenfest". At the Berlinale in 2008, his documentary film on the quondam candidates at a botched election in the GDR, "Sag mir, wo die Schönen sind", had its premiere.
